While the people are storming passport services to get a biometric passport, Poland is preparing for a “visa-free” in its own way.
In the border towns, Polish supermarkets and shopping centers expect an influx of buyers, and hence good profits. More than others, trade and tourism will benefit from the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU. So, only in the Podkarpackie voivodeship our citizens spent more than 2.5 billion zlotys last year. They export products, detergents, building materials, household appliances, spare parts for cars. The neighbors hope that Ukrainians will travel – they will be interested in ancient castles, and in winter they will go to mountain resorts. Although a large influx of tourists are not expected.
But businessmen fear that they will suffer losses, because Ukrainians will rush to Western Europe to search for better earnings, then the agrarian and construction companies will have to look for new employees. Because thanks to the “visa-free” our people will find other employers and get a working visa.
