On April 26, 1986 there was the largest accident in the history of nuclear power. The fourth reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant has exploded.
The release of radioactive elements was so strong that the territory suffered both around the station, and for hundreds and thousands of kilometers from it.
Today in Ukraine the dead in the early days and those who died later having received a large dose of radiationare are being commemorated. More than eight million Ukrainians, Belarusians and Russians were injured.
Today, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the events dedicated to the anniversary of the tragedy. He went to Chernobyl with the president of Ukraine.
In autumn last year, the biggest arch completely covered the destroyed power unit and began dismantling the old structures. The works are supposed to finish by 2023.
This year the first solar power plant in the 30-kilometer Chernobyl zone should should start its work. In the future, it is planned to produce 2.5 thousand MW of electricity.
