The case of the state change started, but immediately slowed down

The court on the case of former President Viktor Yanukovych, who is accused of high treason began in Kiev. As a rule, high-profile cases were considered in the walls of the Pechersk court of the capital. But all the judges of this district participated to some extent in the pre-trial investigation, therefore, according to the Prosecutor General, the final part of the process had to be conducted elsewhere. This time the first preparatory meeting was held in the Obolonsky district.

The presiding judge first denied the opportunity to postpone the meeting to the accused’s lawyers, then the military prosecutor spoke out against the video conference with Yanukovych’s participation, since he was hiding and did not participate in the investigation.

As a result, a break was announced. And the next meeting will be held in two weeks – on May 18.
