Donbass: peace won’t come

After the last negotiations of the contact group in Minsk, it was silent at the Lugansk station for more than four days; therefore it was decided to withdraw troops and equipment from both sides from the line of demarcation. Moreover, some kind of “readiness” to fulfill the terms of the armistice was demonstrated by ORDLO, as was loudly stated in the Russian media and by the ORLLO.

On April 6, a meeting was held, at which it was planned to divorce the troops in three days. However, in the evening the positions of the APU were fired from a large-caliber machine gun, AGS and small arms.

According to Ukraine, the shelling itself is evidence that nobody was going to take people and equipment away. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian side considers it necessary to fulfill all the obligations stipulated in the Minsk agreements, including the Framework Decision of the Tripartite Contact Group on the Dissolution of Forces of September 21, 2016.
