More than 10% of the country’s territory is occupied, as Russian army units remain in Transnistria – the Constitutional Court of Moldova has made this decision. Thus, it is now officially recognized that the stay of the Russian military in this region is not constitutional. The decision also noted that Moldova adheres to neutrality, but has the right to participate in international peacekeeping actions, to increase the fighting capacity of its army in order to ensure the country’s security.
For all the time of existence of the so-called Transdniestrian Republic, no country in the world has recognized its statehood.
