After the announcement of the resignation of the head of the National Bank, it is still unknown who will become the successor. While Valeria Gontareva is on vacation, her duties will temporarily be performed by her deputy Yakov Smoliy. He has been working in the banking sector for a long time, from the very beginning of Ukrainian independence.

It is not yet possible to determine the candidacy of the new chief financier of the country, because the president must conduct necessary consultations with parliamentarians and finally approve the candidacy. On top of everything else, the deputies should vote for the president’s proposal, but the sessional meetings in the parliament haven’t been held for a month, so we’ll have to wait.
