Explosion of the OSCE mission. Reactions of the parties

On April 23, the machine of the OSCE mission was blown up by a mine. The explosion occurred near the town of Prishib, in a territory controlled by the fighters of the LNR. The explosion killed an American – one of the observers. Two more employees were injured.

This is the first death of a member of the mission. Knowing how anxious the US is about its citizens, one can expect the most severe consequences. In the meantime, the parties advanced counter accusations. The investigation has began, the OSCE mission Donbass does not leave, it continues its work.

OSCE staff returned to the Donbass after their car was blown up in the territory of the “LNR”. However, the OSCE was not accused of militants, but they all accused Ukrainian saboteurs. The deputy head of the OSCE mission noted that the road along which the OSCE patrol was moving was not far from the line of contact, but earlier all the mines were on it, there were no mines there.

The OSCE Secretary General is shocked by the death of a member of the monitoring mission and he is looking forward to an investigation of the incident.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called all this a provocation, undermining the ability to resolve the conflict. In response, our diplomats noted that the tragedy only confirms the attempts of the Russian Federation to frighten international observers and destabilize the situation.

The State Department claimed that they were dejected by the death of a US citizen and urged the Russian Federation to influence the separatists, so that the OSCE fully investigated the causes of the tragedy. The German Chancellor also stated that it was necessary to conduct an investigation as soon as possible and called on both sides to stop the fire.

For his part, Peter Poroshenko, in an interview with the US Secretary of State, suggested speeding up the solution of the question of the introduction of UN forces into the Donbas.
